Hale Farm & Village

HEADQUARTERS FIFTH OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY,
Bath, OH. August 7th, 2006.

Greetings everybody,

I just wanted to send a quick email out to everyone about what is going on for Hale Farm this weekend. We all received the emails from Chris & Ken about where we are camping at, and about the picnic. The 5th is going to be the color company for the Battalion for the weekend. Sergeant Kaminski has requested, and has been granted the title of Color Bearer for the weekend. That will leave me without a First Sergeant, so following with company protocol the next rank will move up. That means that Corporal Hooverman will move up to the First Sergeants spot, and we will need someone to fill the Corporal spot. If Corporal Hooverman does not want to move up then we will need to have someone fill the spot. Next: To add onto Ken's email I received a email from the Colonel asking if most or if all the 5th could come down Thursday evening, and set up the Company streets as kind of an example for the 105th OVI & the 5th USCT to follow by. I will be heading down that evening as well to set up. Finally: We will be having the 74th New York Zouaves falling in with us. They sent a request to the Colonel asking to fall in with the 5th Ohio, and only with the 5th. They fell in with us at Old Bedford Village, and are a great bunch of guys. Well, that is all that I have to share. I look forwarding to seeing everyone at Hale Farm this weekend.

Very respectfully,
B. Herchek
Captain, Commanding Co. H, Fifth Ohio Volunteer Infantry
