Burton & Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade

Greetings Everybody,

Just wanted to let everyone know about the two events we have coming this weekend, and next Monday. First: Burton. It is a Support Event on the schedule. A lot of people are going to be working the gun, and some are going to be going as Infantry. Last count I think we have more people working the gun than Infantry. I'm still trying to make a decision on if I'm going or not. If I do go it will probably be as a private since we do not have enough rifles to form a company. So, the Infantry may have to fall in with another company. Second: Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade. The parade is next Monday, and it is a Max Effort Event. It starts at 9:00 AM this year. We are to form up at 8:30 AM behind the old Big Lots Store in the State Road Shopping Center. We are position number 97 out of 126, so we are towards the back of the parade. They will have numbers marked on the pavement where we are supposed to line up at. Please be there at 8:15 AM, so we can inspect weapons. I will be there at 8:00 AM. Also, PLEASE bring a full canteen of water. It is a long march. We are also going to be wearing our Packs, and firing rounds. So, please bring plenty of rounds. Finally: I want to send my condolences and prayers to Mark Hooverman & his family. Corporal Hooverman's father-in-law passed away over the weekend. So, if everyone could keep them in your prayers as they go through this tough time. Well, I hope to see everybody this weekend, and next Monday at the Parade. Take Care.

Very Respectfully,

Brian S. Herchek

2008 5th Ohio Event Schedule

April 26th: 5th Ohio Unit Drill Day at the Log Cabin in Lodi. We will be doing live firing once again. There is no registration fee, but we do need to know who is coming. You will also need to supply your own powder and projectiles for the live firing. We will more than likely make a small donation since they allow us to use their grounds and range.

May 23-25th: 5th Ohio Maximum event - Burton, OH. The registration fee is $8.00 for ALL participants. This is regardless of whether you are 2 or 50. Please have your money to Ken no later than May 1st.

May 26th: 5th Ohio Maximum event - Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade. No fee, but we need to know in advance who is coming. The Frye’s have put together a nice recruiting flyer to hand out to the crowd as we move along the route. We are looking for civilian volunteers to follow us and pass them out.

July 4-6: 5th Ohio Maximum event - 145th Gettysburg. The unit registrations have been sent in. You will need to check online for additional registration.

August 9-10th: 5th Ohio Maximum event - Hale Farm and Village. Registration form available on-line.
