Tuesday, April 17, 2007Beaver CreekGreetings Everybody,I just wanted to send out a quick Thank You to all those who braved the cold weather, and came out to the drill day last Saturday. We had a good turn out, and even Colonel Smith came out and fell in as a private with rifle in hand. There was a vote made while we drilled, and those who were there voted to NOT have our meeting this Thursday. Also, there was another vote that was made during Saturday. Congratulations to Sgt. Andy Kaminski! He was chosen by his peers to carry the Flag at our June "Down in the Valley" event. This is a great honor since we will be portraying our unit the 5th Ohio, and we will have our Flag on the same field of battle as did the original 5th did 145 years ago. Now, onto our next event which will be in three weeks (May 4th-6th) at Beaver Creek State Park near East Liverpool, Ohio. If you haven't checked out the website (birneys.media-techconsulting.com/beavercreek.htm) the info on the event sounds like this is going to be a great event. There are pictures of site and the little Village will be a great backdrop for our theme "Jackson in the Valley". Colonel Smith has also told me that "Stonewall" Jackson himself will be there, well at least a look a like. The event host is still taking registration, and I'm pretty sure they will take walk-ons too. Plus, there will be a pancake breakfast for all reenactors. Now, you can't beat that. You get to fight Jackson, and get a side of pancakes. So, if you haven't sent in your registration get it in as soon as possible. I look forwarding to seeing everybody there. Take Care. Very Respectfully, Brian S. Herchek Captain, Commanding Co. H, 5th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Posted by B.Herchek @ 11:27 AM
