West Virginia event added to schedule

The Division will be making a major effort at this year's reenactment in Romney, WV on September 9-10. This event will take place on the actual battlefield and looks to be a beautiful site. General Kelley has some basic information at this time. Check out the Birney's Division events page for more.

More men muster

Earlier today I informed you that the 2nd Wisconsin has joined the Division and is falling in with our Battalion. I would also like to welcome Capt Jason Krekota and the boys of the 78th PVI out of Ford City, PA to the Division and Battalion. Glad to have you aboard folks. This season is going to be outstanding. 15 companies and growing!

Welcome new companies

The Birney's web site has been revamped and units realigned. I would like to welcome to the Battalion: Capt Paul Baltzer and the boys from the 83rd PVI, Lt Mike Murphy and the boys from the 54th PVI, and Sgt Rob Weaver and the boys from the 7th Wisconsin. Unfortunately, I don't have an email address for Sgt Weaver so if anyone can help me out that would be great. That brings us up to 13 companies. Hoozah!!

Also, I would like to announce that Capt Brian Herchek has succeeded me as the commander of the 5th Ohio.

In addition to the 2d Battalion News site, don't forget to check out the Division News page. There is a great Division annual report from Gen Kelley.

Your servant,
Lt Col Chris Smith

2006 Gettysburg

Please see General Kelley's note below. Are any of you able to get me numbers by the end of the month?

Thanks,
Chris

As per previous notice, we have some member units attending the Gettysburg event this coming season. It appears that there is enough interest that we will be sending a limited command staff to the event to serve you folks. Colonel Don Aston from my staff will serve as commander for Birneys Division units. Please report your anticipated numbers and idicate your units intent to attend to me at your earliest convenience so we can contact the event folks to make preparations to accomodate you properly.

Please be prompt with your reply.
