Monday, May 08, 2006Event AlertsGentlemen,Please see the note from General Kelley below. There are a series of events in question this year and we are trying to get a grip on numbers. If you can give Maj Anderson a ballpark on what your attendance will be like for the events mentioned below (I know... I have already asked about New Market and Burton), we would greatly appreciate it. I need to let General Kelley have some idea by this weekend. Your Servant, Chris Smith All Commanders, We always try to keep you abreast of breaking developments in reenacting. I sent you guys an email last week about extremely slow registrations at events. To date I have heard of 4 old established events within a month of the event that have less than 10 people registered, two of which have cancelled and two more about to ( none of ours........yet). I stress again if your unit plans on attending any event at the mid level on the list below get ahold of the me and try to give us a count of what you are bringing especially at the mid level. I am serious guys lets poll our people and see what events you are actually bringing reenactors to ( the events listed are not in trouble but they need to know what's up soon) and get back to me so I can alert the events that indeed someone will attend their event. Poll them on the following: Shippensburg OBV Burton Hale Farm Lisbon Romney Perryopolis Edward L. Kelley Sr. , Major General Federal First Division Birneys Division Commanding Posted

May reenactmentsFirst I want to thank all of those 2d Battalion folks who came out for the spring drill at Camp Workman in Ravenna, Ohio. It was a great success and the weather was awsome! Those who were there would like to do it again next year. I want to hear from the other units as to where they would like to do the drill in 2007. Camp Workman is a leading favorite!May has two 2d Battalion and Birney's events coming up fast! New Market is May 19-21st and will be a HUGH Birney's activity. Burton Civil War Days in... Burton, OH of course. May 26-28. This is a really nice event and it is my hope that a Birney's presence will improve the Union efforts there. Please check the calendar at www.birneysdivision.org and get your registration in for both events. Don't forget to send Maj Anderson your numbers! Thanks, Chris Posted
