Here is a detailed outline of the schedule for the school. The command staff has put a lot of thought and work into getting this offering ready for our member units. Welcome to our Battalion Adjutant

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome 1st Lt Bob Penix to Birney's Division as our 2d Battalion Adjutant. Those of you in Ohio probably know Bob as he and his wife Pam have been part of the reenacting community for over 14 years.

Bob has served as everything from a private to a battalion commander and has a great deal of knowledge that will prove to be a valuable resource.

Please make sure to drop Bob a line and welcome him to the team!

2d Battalion Units Set Their 2007 Schedule

It's January and you know what that means. Reenacting units all over the country are starting to set their schedule of events. As your unit votes on these activities, please closely review the western (2d Battalion) schedule on the Birney's Division web site or the 2d Battalion News page.

We have a new event here in Ohio. Beaver Creek near East Liverpool on May 4-6. Birney's is also co-hosting a major Civil War anniversary event with the 145th Battle of Antietam in Louden Heights, MD on September 14-16. And let's not forget our 2d Battalion drill weekend (opened to ALL Birney's units) in March.

I hope to see everyone's smiling faces in the field this year. We have a lot of great events planned and fun will be had by all :)

New Ohio Event for May

Please take notice the Beaver Creek event in East Liverpool, Ohio now has a firm date. We tried to negotiate it for the second weekend in May but was unable to get it changed. We will attend with a command staff to support the units from Birney's Division that will be there.

Beaver Creek State Park in Ohio - May 4-6, 2007

This is a first time event being help on Beautiful state park property. The entire park has approx 2700 acres of beautiful hills, trails, and ponds. The battle scenarios will be centered around a period village with a working grist mill built back in early 1800's. The grist mill is also the final resting spot for the trunk of the tree where Confederate General John Hunt Morgan surrendered to Ohio militia.

There will be 2 battles one on Saturday and one (early) on Sunday with a Sunday morning breakfast. There will also be an opportunity for a night time skirmish, so pickets are recommended. The will be plenty of water, wood, and porta johns, with straw available.
Please consider this event when your making out next years schedule. There will be more to follow in the near future.
